Filming: home edition

We met up at kats house at 4. We met up with her neighbors. Then we gave them the script. They read over it a few times. We started filming. Then we realized they were messing up a lot. So we gave them the scripts and let them read it. We let read while we weren’t recording. But we told them to act like how they would if we were recording. They are actually pretty good. Well they’re a lot better than me and Luisa anyway. We also took snack breaks. Before we started filming and reading scripts we got to know each other. To loosen up we played a quick game of truth or dare. Kat has some cool sticks that you flip over and it has the dare one one side and truth on the other. We also played a game of volleyball once we were done. We tried to have as much fun as possible because we knew we wouldn’t see each other for a while.

Re-edit:

The girl who was supposed to do our peer review did end up giving it to us. Once she gave it to us we looked it over. Then decided to apply what she said. We also decided to get new actors. We’re going to use some kids who live by Kat. They already agreed to it. So on Saturday or Sunday we are going to meet up. Then we’re going to spend an hour or so going over the script. Then we’re going to film. We’re all going to act as director. I’m really excited for how this will turn out. Then were going to start editing with melina in the class after. One of our biggest problems was that the titles were in the wrong places. Also a lot of titles were missing. We also missed some camera angles. We missed lots of move mats too. But we’re working on fixing it on Sunday. We might try and film on Saturday. We were going to film after school on Friday but Kat and I have a lacrosse game. We can also film on

Reshoot: sad stuff

This weekend we were supposed to reshoot. Our reshoots were supposed to be based on our peer review. The group who was supposed to do our peer review ended up doing someone else’s. We spoke to one of the group members about it. She said she would do it and send it to us. She hasn’t sent it yet. But she does have our film and hopefully she did the sheet over the weekend. We need to film sometime after school if she has done it. We all were busy this weekend too. We just decided there’s some scenes we want to refilm. Then we’ll see what our reviewer said as well. We also want to try and get new actors. It might a little to short notice for that though. If we can’t replace ourselves then we just have to be more serious. We also need to refilm the scenes were I am “stabbing” Luisa. As you can see that the knife never touches her. This weekend I went to the beach with my other friends and filmed some clips for establishing shots. So we could use that and maybe film a beach scene. Kat and I could also film at our lacrosse game on Friday. I also went shopping for some more supplies because we accidentally lost our cop badge so we brought another one.

Peer review

In class we chose numbers. We were then assigned a group to review based on that. We reviewed group number 11. We asked them to send it to us. Even though they had it on a flash drive too. We thought it would be easier to just watch it from our phones. We watched it and then talked about it. We talked about what we liked and didn’t like. Then we rewatched the video. We read the paper and then answered most of the questions. Then we rewatched it one last time. Then we answered the questions on the back. We liked the story of the movie because it was easy to follow. Sadly, some aspects didn’t make sense. Like the part where she got stabbed but it was never mentioned again. There was no blood or anything. I feel like it added nothing to the plot. It would’ve made more sense for her drink to be poisoned. So that she would’ve passed out and been easier to kidnap.

Editing blog:

We started editing in class, this week. We all sat around Melinas computer. Then we told her which scenes go where. We also realized that a lot of the scenes we needed. That would help the story flow were missing. We also realized that it really does look like a student film. We realized that our movie is more of a comedy. So when we do reshoots we need more gore. It resembles more of a children’s movie. We were going for a teen rated r kind of vibe. We sadly missed the mark. So we know that when we do reshoots we need to go big or go home. We also noticed that our horror level is also on the actors too. I am one of the actors and it was hard to stay serious. Since I had a hard time doing that, you could tell we were about to laugh. Which is not a very good look. So next time around we need to act more professionally.
