editing blog (not)

BIG NEWS. we finally finished filming. Now that that is over it is time to edit. We opened up our computers and dumped last class. But big problem our editing software is down. Other students tried. Even teachers tried but to our dismay the computers did not care. We thought perhaps it would be up this class. after we finished filming and came back. Mrs. Kat told us that the editing software was still down.

Today we had a pretty grueling schedule. We had to find new actors. Get our new actors to cooperate. We filmed around six shots on the track. Took a break. Then went onto the bus loop. Filming on the bus loop was by far the funniest scene we've shot. Even though, all we had to do was run towards the camera. Filming with friends is a lot harder than i thought it would be. When you friends with people you're forced to hang out with them but not only film with them. But also get mad at their lazy sides. One thing I have noticed is that when your friends with a person its harder to tell them that they are doing nothing.

Working with these new people was a whole lot easier than i thought. We had the same amount of people as last time. But seeing as we had such a tough time last time. It did feel more uncomplicated. Our filming process was so much fun. I do have a new found love of filming. Hopefully the blogs are back up next week. See you soon.

Filming

Today we finally started filming. All i have to say is i certainly have a new found sense of respect for directors and actors. It was one of the hardest things i have ever done. Especially since people were not listening and getting restless. Filming in the Florida heat wearing a sweater was also extremely hard haha. My group and I did find it very hard to get our actors to listen . Since they felt that they had the freedom of not going to class that the rules did not still apply. They were rude and relentless but we got throught it. We got multiple shots and I am very proud.

As i was one of the actors it was harder for me to control them since i was in it. Working on camera rather than behind the scenes forced me to interact with everyone. There was one boy that kept being annoying and getting aggravated anytime we filmed a new scene. They acted like they were professionals but really they were having a little bit of trouble adapting. We filmed multiple shots. But they thought we would only film one and thought that we were being perfectionists when we kept refilming. The hardest tjing was fighring oht how to break to tgem that they are fired on monday. The stress of having to literally take care of them like a babysitter was very annoying.

Since it was my groups video i wanted it to be perfect . Let's just say i may have turned into directors assistant- zilla. I will definitely apologise because i know that they tried their best. Also we had to work in an extremely busy enviroment. A lot of people wanted to film in the senior patio because it is beautiful. My friends and i went to dunkin the night before to pick up cups. Then when we were filming they were filled with water. And we used them as props as well as our bags. We switched out actors and played around with it. We got at least five takes for each scene.

Storyboard

On our storyboard we have our angles, shots, and locations. We mostly have over the shoulder, eye level and high angles. We’re going to use eye level for when people are interacting with each other. We’ll use high angles when shooting any group encounters or when people are in a big group coming from somewhere. We’ll also be using over the shoulder for when people are talking to eachother, in a conversation.Today in class we made our storyboards and decided what we would use. We got actors and discussed hiw filming would be so thar they had an idea. While wprking on our storyboard we took notes of which types of movements and angles we wpuld use. We decided to use most of the shots that we had learned in the beginning. We are going to edit using jump cuts. We are using mostly two and three shots

editing lesson blog

Hey! welcome to my new blog  :)

Today in class we learned how to edit.  We also learned how to use pinnacle studios which is what we use to edit. We saw the cameras we are going to use for the first time. They are so cute and tiny. Ms kat told us that if we take them out we must return them the next day NO EXCUSES. because these cameras are very important and expensive. w all have to fill out a form to be able to use them. But we also have to turn in a form every time we turn in and take out a computer. Ms Kat said to make sure you dump whenever you turn in your camera to make sure nobody accidentally deletes your footage off of the SD card.

We got taught how to use our cameras and tripods. The tripods are so cool because they extend from the legs and underneath the camera. Our teacher told us to make sure that we use the same personnel number every time we log in because otherwise we wont be able to see it on pinnacle studios. I wish I would've sat a tiny bit closer because i could see and hear. But sitting closer would've been a better choice because i got distracted by my pencil running out of lead and only ended up taking three and one third pages of notes. The coolest thing was that when you cut it instead of being basic and having scissors next to cut it is a razor blade.

We learned the do's and don'ts of the pinnacle studios world. Don't press the mute as it mutes all parts instead of just a little clip unless you want to voice over all of them. To add a title press the letter 't'. You can change the colors and font off the title. You can change the colors of your actual project too.You have to put the title above where you want it otherwise it will not work properly. You can also change the location of your title just by clicking on it. Rendering is the way that the video stops being choppy and becomes smooth. Like in a movie when all the scenes flow together and you cant tell where a cut has taken place. That means it was rendered. Rendering was the coolest thing for me because last year my friend said it a lot and i find it so funny.

Planning blog

Hey guys, welcome to todays blog!
Today we started planning and heres what we came up with:
We decided to create a very detailed schedule because we want to have enough time for all locations. We are filming in four different locations. Which are subject to change if the weather permits. We decided to come and film at lunch too. So from 11:35-11:50 we will be on the senior patio to film our "morning" shot. After that we gave ourselves five minutes to get to the track to film our "day" shot from 11:55-12:15. Then from 12:20-12:40 we will be under the media center. Out last and final scene is us at the bus loop from 12:45-12:55 so we can film our shot of us running with a ton of other people. We thought that doing a shot based off a school day woukd be pretty cool so we picked spots around the school that can be used when filming and would represnt different points in a school day.

In case anything goes wrong with the weather we have our backup plan, which is if it rains and we can’t go on the track we would go and film under the media center by the vending machines. We would film in the track people running on the Dunkin boxes but if it’s raining we will have a group of people walking with Dunkin cups. Our other backup plan is the senior patio, we would have a group of kids meeting up to eat their breakfast which would be the donuts and the coffee. If it rains too we would film by the auditorium stairs. Have the group of kids hang out on the stairs with their Dunkin coffee and donuts. We’d also film in the bus loop as if kids were on their way home, our other option would be to film at the point of entry. If things go according to plan we will continue with our track, senior patio, and bus loop films.

Our group decided it is best is we print out pictures of the logo Dunkin’ donuts because “America Runs on Dunkin.” Throughout the whole comercial the actors will be walking and running on “Dunkin.” We will also have people with cups of coffee and food from the company. They will be waking around as background people or close up for product placement. For the costumes we decided to have people dress in different solid colors. The reason why is because the concept of the commercial is how it feels like to not have your coffee that day. The video will display the variety moods someone can be without having their coffee.

Research commercial conventions

For our commercial we decided to do dunkin donuts because we all enjoy it. We started off by searching up dunkin donuts commercials on YouTube. But we soon realised we didnt knkw what conventions meant so we had to search it up. Most of the commercials were either cute or funny.  Since my group decided to do dunkin donuts we strictly watched dunkin commercials. We all brainstormed what we wanted to do and then started typing. We asksed our friend to borrow her laptop so we could watch videos. We decided to stray a little far away from the idea of a conventional dunkin commercial by featuring real people.

The videos that our grouped watch showed that in the commercials it usually demonstrates people being in a better mood once they have coffee. It also shows people enjoying their drink or food that they have. The commercials have music that is very tranquil. It also have some special effects like pop art and exaggerated scenes like a man flying a plane. During the video, it is colorful most of the time. The commercials have people that talk about why they like Dunkin and that they would keep buying that product. At the end of all the commercials they promote the deals that they have which would attract people to buy it. These tactics persuade people to invest in their company.

Our idea is that since Dunkins motto is "America runs on dunkin" we're going to have people running while eating donuts. Were not going dunking donuts commercial. most dunking commercials only feature the food or drink being advertised. whereas, ours will have real people doing things because we thought the idea was cool. were going to find as many people as we can to run. were gonna ask our friends to help and their friends. were also gonna work at kats house on wednesday to brainstorm more. Were also going to buy donuts and iced coffee to put in our commercial. Well have people running while eating as an example of the motto "America runs on dunkin".
